Scholarship Opportunities

The Education Foundation’s mission is to raise funds, foster academic development, invest beyond what tax dollars provide, develop teachers, encourage community involvement, and reward academic excellence.

The Gail Martin Scholarship Fund

The family of S. Gail Martin established the Gail Martin Scholarship through the Education Foundation for Clinton City and Anderson County Schools in 2016 shortly after she passed away. Gail was an education activist who gave twenty four years to the Anderson County Board of Education. She was dedicated to all things related to public education, from classroom support for teachers, students, and parents in our school system to athletics. She could be found frequently at school events across the district during the year and continued her support well after retirement from the ACBOE.

The Gail Martin Scholarship was first awarded to one graduate from each of the two Anderson County School District’s graduating seniors in 2017. To apply for this scholarship, applicants should complete a general scholarship form with their counseling office at their high school. Scholarship awards are announced at the Senior awards night at each high school by a member of the Martin family.

Freddy Fagan Scholarship Fund

The family of longtime and beloved resident of Clinton, Freddy Fagan, began a scholarship in his honor in the fall of 2020 to be offered to one student from each of the two high schools in the school district. Freddy is a huge Dragon fan and tolerates “da Bulls” as he knows the two teams are cross county/town rivals. Freddy is always a charmer for students in the school district and can be found at football, basketball, baseball, and softball games on a regular basis cheering on his teams.

The Education Foundation is honored to be the facilitating agency for the scholarships and we look forward to honoring Freddy each year with recipients of the Freddy Fagan Scholarship.

The Helping Hand Scholarship Fund

The Helping Hand Scholarship Fund is herewith established to assist students about to graduate or who are graduates of Clinton High School or Anderson County High School. The goal is to lend assistance with monetary awards for incidental expenses associated with attending trade schools, technical schools, apprentice programs, colleges, or any programs designed to further their education to improve their employment opportunities or improve their lifestyle or skill.

Joe Forgety Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Education Foundation for Clinton City & Anderson County Schools collaborates with the family of Joe Forgety to annually award the Joe Forgety Memorial Scholarship to a couple of students at the Innovation Academy in Anderson County Schools. Joe Forgety was a career educator within Anderson County Schools who served in many capacities throughout his four decades. He loved working with students, educators, families, bus contractors, and others to provide opportunities to young people in Anderson County.

The Joe Forgety Memorial Scholarships are awarded annually at the Innovation Academy’s graduation exercises. Students are selected who need support as they begin their next chapters in life in college or technical training programs. Contributions to the fund can be made through the Donate button on this website, or checks can be sent through the mail to Education Foundation for Clinton City & Anderson County Schools at 212 North Hicks Street, Clinton, TN 37716.

In addition, the Education Foundation and the Forgety Family host a golf tournament each May that directs a portion of the proceeds to the Forgety Scholarship Fund. The Joe Forgety Memorial Golf Classic was launched in 2021 to honor Joe’s years of service and continue his legacy of supporting young people. The event is held at Centennial Golf Club on the third Saturday of May each year.
